The room

Each room at 7 Koppies feels less like a guest suite and more like a well-loved home. Furnished with treasures and trinkets collected from around the globe, the spaces reflect the worldly lives of the owners, who have proudly breathed new life into this beautifully refurbished farmhouse.

The result is an eclectic, soulful mix—comfortable rather than polished, personal rather than predictable. Layered textures, meaningful objects, and warm details invite you to truly settle in, kick off your shoes, and feel at home, while still enjoying the quiet luxury and space of a Franschhoek retreat.

The farmhouse

At the heart of 7 Koppies is the farmhouse itself—a living, breathing home set within a working farm. Life here naturally revolves around the open kitchen, where the day begins with fresh coffee and ends with long, unhurried evenings. Home-cooked meals, made with care and local ingredients, are a highlight: generous, comforting, and best enjoyed together, just as they would be in a private home.

The architecture tells a layered story. Some Cape Dutch elements remain—sash windows and classic Dutch doors—quietly paying homage to the original structure. These sit comfortably alongside Arts and Crafts influences, with attentive guests spotting William Morris fabrics woven throughout the interiors. A true Renaissance man, Morris was not only a champion of handmade production but also a novelist, poet, and activist, and his spirit of craft and integrity resonates deeply within the space.

The gardens

The gardens at 7 Koppies unfold gently into the landscape, blurring the line between cultivated space and wild terrain. Manicured lawns and inner gardens give way to natural fynbos, allowing the property to sit lightly within its mountain setting. This is a place to wander barefoot, pause often, and notice the small details—the scent of herbs, the movement of grasses, the ever-changing light.

At the centre lies the pool, perfectly positioned for long, sun-soaked afternoons and quiet dips with uninterrupted valley views. Framed by the outdoor pavilions and sheltered from the wind, it becomes a natural gathering point, as well as a peaceful retreat. Beyond, the fynbos stretches outward, alive with birdsong and indigenous flora, inviting slow walks and moments of stillness—an ever-present reminder that nature sets the rhythm at 7 Koppies.
